De eerste Emilio Baquerra"t was een spaanse officierin het leger van Napoleon dat naar Rusland trok begin 1800. Bij de vrede van Tilsit, ca 1824, vestigde hij zich in Polen, en werd in 1828 vader van Emilo Karl. BAGUERRA zou een samenvoegsel kunnen zijn van het werkwoord BA (=gaan) en GUERRA (=oorlog). In Spanje kom je de naam BACCERRA tegen. In het slavisch klinkt de CC als QU, vandaar geschreven als Baquerra. In het latijns klinkt de QU als CK en vandaar waarschijnlijk geschreven als Backerra.
